BRAVER ACQUIRES THE PRACTICE OF KANTER CPA FORMERLY OF BROWN & BROWN AND NAMES CYNTHIA HICKEY FIRST FEMALE SHAREHOLDER
Plans for new Boston office also underway

Newton, MA – August 22, 2006 – Braver P.C. today announced the acquisition of the practice of Scott A. Kanter, CPA, formerly of Brown & Brown, LLP.  Kanter, a third generation certified public accountant, has left Brown & Brown to be the Executive Vice President of Finance for Sawyer Realty Holdings, LLC.  Cynthia Hickey, CPA, Kanter’s fifteen year associate, will lead the transition of the accounting practice from Brown & Brown to Braver and will become Braver’s first female shareholder.  Additionally, Braver announced plans to open a new Boston office.

Four additional staff members will join Hickey in the transition from Brown & Brown, further strengthening Braver’s expertise in real estate and entrepreneurial business accounting and tax services.

Hickey has more than 20 years of experience providing tax planning and compliance services to a diverse client base. Instrumental in providing sound business and tax planning advice to clients in industries –including real estate, law firms, medical practices and retail –she specializes in tax accounting and tax preparation for individuals and small closely-held and family managed businesses.  Hickey graduated summacumlaude from Boston College and earned her master's degree in business administration from Babson College.
