MGI Golf/Tennis TournamentEach year, Braver employees gather together with our clients and friends for a golf and tennis tournament at Ferncroft Country Club, in Danvers, Mass.  This event is our treat and is looked forward to by our shareholders and clients alike.

This year we raised nearly $7,500 for the Special Olympics of Massachusetts through programs including a closest-to-the-pin competition called Beat the Athlete.

Summer Outing On a quintessential sunny summer day in August, Braver closes down the office so everyone can enjoy some rest and relaxation at Ferncroft Country Club in Danvers, Mass. Braver employees invite friends and family to join us for the day, which includes 18 holes of golf, lunch, an afternoon of relaxing poolside, playing games, and a surf and turf dinner.

Life Is Good At Fenway Braver is committed to our community. That is why we help our client, Life is good, with its Festival each summer.  By helping to raise awareness of and funds for Project Joy, a unique program that helps children build a foundation of self-worth, social efficacy and community, Braver employees have found a great way to spend a summer afternoon. From competing in the World’s Greatest Backyard Athlete competition to helping with fundraising, we enjoy giving back and getting involved. For more information about the event please visit: http://www.lifeisgood.com/festivals/fenway/.

Providence Charity Golf Tournament Our Providence office hosts a charity golf tournament each summer to raise funds for one of Braver’s not-for-profit clients. This year’s event will be held at the Triggs Memorial Golf Course in Providence, Rhode Island, and will benefit Westbay Community Action, Inc., the only multi-service agency serving the basic needs of Kent County residents.  WCA helps individuals and families become self-sufficient and improve their lives. In the past year alone, WCA served more than 15,000 people in Kent County!  For more information, please visit:http://www.westbaycap.org/.

Spring Celebration To thank our employees for their diligent work during Opportunity Season, Braver hosts a party on the day of the tax deadline.  Massimo’s, a North End gem, caters the event with a tremendous buffet of delicious food and libations.  We enjoy this opportunity to take a break and have fun together in celebration of our well-done work.

Spring Open House Braver knows how to throw a party and our annual Spring Open House is the perfect example. Held during the first week of April –yes, April! –the event features a jazz trio, wine tasting, plenty of delicious food and  an art auction supporting Massachusetts College of Art & Design , for which all proceeds collected go directly to the student artists. Most importantly, however, it is a reason to bring our favorite people –clients and friends of the firm –to our offices to gather for this great event.

Opportunity Season It is well known that during the first four months of every year, most public accounting firms go into what they call “busy season,” focusing on audits and taxes at the exclusion of all other activities.  At Braver, we prefer to call it “Opportunity Season” –a time when the staff continues to have fun, one of Braver’s core values.

Our management believes that a work-life balance is essential for every member of the firm and, in order to live this message, we offer a number of activities that continue this philosophy. From Saturday morning yoga classes and Friday night happy hours; to healthy breakfasts and lunches on a regular basis and dry-cleaning pick-up services; to March Madness parties in our lounge, we treat our employees right. We host our client Open House during the first week of April.  And we celebrate the last evening of the Season with food and wine from one of the finest restaurants in Boston’s historic North End.

Alumni Party At Braver, we appreciate all of our employees, past and present.  Our annual Alumni Party allows us to reconnect with old friends and introduce our alumni to the newest faces at Braver. Among our ranks are two alumni who represent two generations of the same family and an alumnus who has history with Braver since 1963! If you are a member of Braver’s alumni and haven’t received an invitation, please email Alison Simons at asimons@thebravergroup.com.

Holiday Party The holidays are a special time to spend with friends and family. That is why the collective Braver family – all employees and their individual families –get together every December, donned in our finest, to partake in an evening of festivities… from dinner, to drinks, to the dance floor!

Life Is Good Pumpkin FestBraver is proud to be the official “Pumpkin Counter” for the annual Life is good Pumpkin Festival, ensuring that every jack-o-lantern on Boston Common is counted. In 2006, our team confirmed to the Guinness Book of World Records that, indeed, Boston did beat the previous record with the 30,128 carved and lit pumpkins that illuminated the city.  We are pleased to have participated in this event, which raised more than $200,000 for Camp Sunshine, a retreat in Casco, Maine, for children with terminal illness and their families.
